>Slag off and running

With their bulging bottoms and bellies hanging out, cartoon characters the Fat Slags are truly coming to life. The film, based on the Viz comic book characters, will star Fiona Allen and Sophie Thompson as the infamous Sharon and Tracy. Former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell is also signed up to star as one of their friends. Geri, who is on holiday in France, hasn’t started filming yet. Former EastEnders Michael Greco is to play one of the young men chased by Tracy and Sharon. Pals say Geri was thrilled to land the part after months of trying to break into acting. Fortunately, the slender star won’t have to pile on the pounds for her role as she is not playing one of the slags. No doubt Geri will pass the time in between scenes knitting — she’s become obsessed with the hobby in a bid to quit smoking.

Is Geri Halliwell the only celebrity not to have caught on to the iPod craze yet? My picture shows the former Spice Girl preparing to jet off from Heathrow to the South of France with her CD walkman. Looking bronzed and happy, Geri was going off on her hols after flying into London from the US to sign a deal on the movie, The Fat Slags.

>Greco vs The Slags

Former EastEnders star Michael Greco has landed a role alongside Geri Halliwell in the Fat Slags movie. Michael, who was Beppe di Marco in the soap, will begin filming in the next few weeks. I told you first that former Spice Girl Geri was to star in the flick, based on the antics of the infamous Viz comic slappers who live to reveal mountains of flesh, stuff chips and seduce petrified men. It is thought Geri will play a mate of the Slags — and Greco will be one of their victims. Smack The Pony star Fiona Allen and Sophie Thompson are set to play the lead roles.

Geri, 30, who has battled bulimia, became skeletal thin as her weight fell to six stone.

The Nu-metal star spoke for the first time about his friendship with former Spice Girl Geri Halliwell. After the Britney saga, Fred was snapped several times with Geri. He told me they spent time together hanging out in LA but insisted they did not date. He explained: “I met her on a TV show and we got to know each other better. We hung out and went hiking a couple of times.

“We were teasing with the idea of getting together. I thought she was very cute. She was staying at George Michael ’s house and that was crazy. I have always been a fan of his. I haven’t talked to her for a while. We weren’t dating. It hadn’t reached that point but anything can develop, you know what I mean?”
