Belly nice! It's Geri Halliwell getting to grips with her new body of work. The former Spice Girl inspected her waistline in LA this week after recently adding some classy curves to her once tiny frame.

Sporting a daring cut-off denim skirt and a rock chick T-shirt, Geri got very hands-on as she showed pals her new look for Au-tum. First she teased them by playfully pinching an inch of skin on her waist...but the bust was yet to come.

She then moved her hands up her body to check on the qualities that made her famous —what a comeback!

Geri's weight plummeted two years ago, sparking a national obsession with her thin frame—and well-being. But now the 31-year-old star is clearly the picture of health."She looked more womanly than she has done for a very long time," said a watching fan. Now THAT's what we really, really, want, Geri.

You could hardly call it leading a dog’s life being Geri Halliwell’s pooch. Her latest mutt, a Pomeranian called Daddy, doesn’t even have to go walking when he, er, goes walkies. When Geri’s shopping in Los Angeles she carries Daddy around in a bag so his little paws don’t get grubby. Daddy, the US equivalent of her British pooch Harry, keeps her company when she’s living in La-La Land. Let’s just hope Harry doesn’t get too jealous.

>Simon Cowell bans Geri from TV show

Simon Cowell is to judge a Celebrity Pop Idol special – and has banned Geri Halliwell because he says she’s not good enough. He hopes former Hollyoaks star Will Mellor will join the line-up after he won Comic Relief’s Celebrity Fame Academy in the spring.

Other stars in his sights include TV beauty Amanda Holden and Robbie Williams’ best mate Jonathan Wilkes. But Geri will not be invited to take part — because the acid-tongued music boss says she is not up to scratch. Telly’s Mr Nasty told me his plans before heading home with model lover Terri Seymour after the West End premiere of Jerry Springer — The Opera at the Cambridge Theatre in London on Monday night.

He said: “ITV have spoken about doing this for ages. We should have done it a year ago but we didn’t have time.

“We have banned Geri. We’ve got enough people who can actually sing for the show.”

The final format for the programme — to be screened next May — is still being decided. It is not certain whether Simon will be joined by Pop Idol judges Pete Waterman, Nikki Chapman and Neil Fox on the panel. Ant and Dec might present the programme.

Geri Halliwell spends a girlie day on the beach with a blonde pal — and not a buoy in sight. The ex-Spice Girl had a splashing time with her chum, who helped her dry off with a towel.

Curvy Geri, 31, showed she’s waved goodbye to her stick-thin look. An onlooker said in Malibu, California: “She looked great.” Geri’s weight plunged three years ago after she became diet obsessed.

But that was happily all over as she paddled then ate a sandwich to tide her over. It’s just a pity her career’s still, er, taking a dip.
