>Geri's on the move

After almost two years of living out of suitcases and sleeping at friends' houses following the burglary of her home, Geri Halliwell has at last found a safe haven. The former Spice Girl has moved into a high-security £1.5 million apartment close to her former flat, which was looted by thieves in March last year. The new apartment is tucked away on a quiet backstreet in Notting Hill, with views over Holland Park and access to tennis and squash courts. And it is just a stone's throw from the 30-year-old's favourite restaurant, Damien Hirst's Pharmacy. Halliwell is also said by friends to have a new man in her life - although his identity is still a mystery - after she split up with American millionaire Damian Walker in September. The block containing her new home has private garages, a 24-hour porter living on the premises and a state-oftheart security system. The burglary had a traumatic impact on Halliwell. Raiders sprayed a soft drink all over the walls and carpets and damaged furniture in the £1 million property. Among £40,000 worth of possessions stolen was a £20,000 diamond ring and a necklace once owned by Elizabeth Taylor. Photographs of Halliwell with celebrity friends including George Michael were also taken. Although Halliwell refused to speculate on whether it had been the work of a stalker, she said at the time: "It was really horrible. "I was lucky because I did not disturb anybody and I have enough money to go and stay in a hotel and get away from it and not have to deal with it. I think I have got over it now." She spent almost two years living in hotel suites costing about £50,000 in the Franklin and Lanesborough hotels, and also rented a £1,500-aweek flat overlooking the Thames. Notting Hill has been transformed in recent years and has become one of the capital's most sought- after addresses. Numerous celebrities now have a W11 postcode. When Patsy Kensit, the former Mrs Liam Gallagher, moved into a Victorian villa in the area this year, she walked down the road to call in on television presenter Mariella Frostrup while the removal men installed her in her new house. Halliwell's former boyfriend Robbie Williams has a home in the area. He now lives there with his girlfriend Rachel Hunter, and the pair keep their matching black scooters parked outside the building. Other showbusiness names in Notting Hill include actor Joseph Fiennes, who has been re-developing a £1.2 million home there. Meanwhile, former Cabinet minister Peter Mandelson is a regular at the local Geale's fish and chip restaurant.
